There is no disputing that students do not abandon the creature comforts provided by technology when going "Into the Woods", but who can blame them?—it's fun! Hammocks, hikes, expeditionary learning, fellowship, campfires, worship, and eating are highlights of this annual RISE adventure.
Past camping trips have been held at the following locations:
Payne's Prairie in Gainesville in 2013
The Everglades in 2012 and 2015
Caloosahatchee Regional Park near Ft. Myers in 2014
Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park in 2016
Highlands Hammock State Park in 2017
Each trip exposes students to researchers working in the field, builds friendships, and celebrates excellence.
